SLCC Baseball Splits 2012 Opening Day

SLCC 1 AZW 5 SLCC 8 CC 1 Henderson, NV- The 16th ranked SLCC Baseball team split day one of the 2012 season. Salt Lake dropped the first game of the day 5-1 to Arizona Western and defeated Cochise College 8-1 in game two. AJ Carman went 6 2/3 strong innings in the game one loss. Carman allowed 1 earned run while the poor SLCC defense allowed three unearned runs. Tyson Popoff led the offense going 1-3 with a double. The Bruins came out in game two with more energy with an 8-1 win over Cochise College fueled by a six run third inning. Tanner Banks picked up the win throwing five innings with four strikeouts. Adam Steven finished the game with two hits, Kennedy Kinkade was 2-3 with a double and Dalton Gust added a double. Salt Lake (1-1) does battle with Yavapai College and Arizona Western tomorrow in Henderson , NV.
