Snow College Lady Badgers took on the Salt Lake Community College last Saturday Jan. 21, beating them 66-55.
The Badgers came out very strong and intense at the start of the game to set the tone and their presence known to the Bruins. They played tough hard core defense and ran a good offense for them to take the lead from the beginning and never look back. The Bruins seemed shocked and confused by the Badgers tempo and never could really handle it.
At the end of the first half Snow had a commanding eight point lead. Coming out of half time the Bruins tried to make adjustments but really could never find an answer for the Badgers. The closest the Bruins got was 4 points with about 8 minutes left.
The Badgers shot 41% from the field, 37% from beyond the arc and 66% from the free-throw line. The Bruins shot 29% from the field, 0% from beyond the arc, and 75% from the free throw line.
"Big win tonight," said Head Coach Natalie Visger. "The team played focused team defense and rebounded well in second half. Multiple players hit clutch shots in second half to pull away with about 3 minutes to go."
The Badgers were led by Erica Martinez with 23 points, Kelsi Wells had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Dani Lockhart and Jordi Wilden added 8 points each.
The Badgers will be back in action at home, Friday Jan 27 vs. College of Southern Idaho and Saturday Jan 28 vs. North Idaho College.
